Write It Up! Author Review

(Pictured here is Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos-the 2012 Newbery award winner). “Jack Gantos is a wonderful author. He has made a series of Joey Pigza books: Joey Swallowed the Key, What Would Joey Do? and I Am Not Joey Pigza. Jack Gantos teamed up with Nicole Rubel, an art student. They made a picture book which got many rejections and they got frustrated. One day Jack was thinking of a story and looked down at his cat named Ralph being rough. Jack got the idea to create Rotten Ralph. Rotten Ralph was published in 1976 and the illustrator was Nicole Rubel. Jack kept writing stories. He became really famous. Today Jack Gantos lives in Boston… Jack Gantos is a wonderful author and I can’t wait to read more of his books!” Author Review by Annabella P. Grade 7.
